My name is Summer, and I am a professional writing student at Spring Arbor University. I have been a journalist ever since the dreamy days of childhood. Nothing delighted me more than writing, in my stunted chicken scrawl, the daily family news and gossip in my trusty, threadbare journal. (A heroine of mine is the fast-talking, quick-witted journalist, Hildy Johnson, in His Girl Friday.) This same passion for news and story has followed me ever since.
I have played many roles, ranging from recording artist to professional equine trainer. My Lumbee Native American heritage and love for music, horses, and fashion is a defining part of who I am. An avid film historian, I dedicate much of my free time to watching, studying, and analyzing classic Hollywood films. George Bernard Shaw once said: “The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.” So many notions people have about communication are shrouded in misconception and antiquated ideals. One of the things I am desperately trying to do with my work is lift the veil from these outdated notions and effectively communicate with the world around me. |
